hard g, soft g, elided g? I have no idea!

Hrafn - pronounced raven, rafen? was the H strongly aspirated? I would have thought it would be a weak sound to be dropped so easily in later speech, i'd love to use this name for a son, but would pronounce it ray-fun, would this be valid, what about the female varient hrefna, rev-na?
