Message: "Malin" - Behind the Name

Does anybody know the meaning and origin of the MALE name Malin?

I came across it in the film "Finding Nemo" where the name of Nemo's father is Malin.

I just know it as a female name (Swedish, same spelling but different pronunciation).

Wasn't the father's name Marlin? ie as in a type of fish?
