The only occurence of it as a female name I know of is of the Bond girl in "Live and Let Die", I think. I guess in this case it makes sense that she's from the Caribbean. But I've never heard it used as a name in French speaking areas since it does mean "alone" and also designates rings with only one diamond. The character of Solitaire in "Live and let die" (Jane Seymour) was so called because she was a sort of fortune-teller and she was always playing solitaire with her cards.
