What does the first name "Watene" mean?

Hello everyone, I am proudly 18 weeks pregnant and hoping to find out what my deceased father's name is in english. His first name is Watene, supposedly a native New Zealand name aka Maori.

So please if anyone out there can help me out, it would be most appreciated.

Watene means 'warden' and yes it is very much a New Zealand Maori Name. Hope that this helps you!

I dont know what Watene means but i know that Watene was around alot longer before the Maori Wardens started.
