Kahla
I just read somewhere that the name Kahla ("origin unknown")means keeper of the keys. Is this true?

Thank you to Miss Claire. because I did not know that Kahla was a Hebrew name. I love the meaning. The other, "keeper of the keys," was listed on a German baby-naming site and I was also intrigued by that meaning, particularly since it was listed "Origin unknown."
Apparently Kahla is a popular name in Germany.

? Isn't giving a "meaning" for a name whose origin is "unknown" a contradiction in terms? How on earth could someone give a correct etymological derivation for a name with an unknown origin? It makes no sense.

I don't think so...
It means "bride" in Hebrew, and is also a form of the Yiddish name Kayla (http://www.behindthename.com/bb/arcview.php?id=190928&board=gen)
