I have a friend named Ansis - I had no idea of his native background, so I asked.
He has a Latvian ancestry.
I asked him what his name meant, he didn't know. I figured this website would have the answer. I was wrong.
The name does appear - Its name day in Latvia is January 26. But there is no definition.
I have Googled Ansis - and scattered within the techy stuff related to ANSI - I find a lot of references to prominant (and not so prominant) Latvians named Ansis, historical as well as contemporary. All with no definition.
My curiosity is bugging the h**l out of me, can anyone help?
