Ansis
I have a friend named Ansis - I had no idea of his native background, so I asked. He has a Latvian ancestry.I asked him what his name meant, he didn't know. I figured this website would have the answer. I was wrong. The name does appear - Its name day in Latvia is January 26. But there is no definition.I have Googled Ansis - and scattered within the techy stuff related to ANSI - I find a lot of references to prominant (and not so prominant) Latvians named Ansis, historical as well as contemporary. All with no definition. My curiosity is bugging the h**l out of me, can anyone help?

"This name derives from the Ancient Greek Iōánnēs (Ἰωάννης), which in turn is a form of the Hebrew name Yôchânân / Yehochanan which means "graced by Yahweh, God is gracious"".https://www.name-doctor.com/name-ansis-meaning-of-ansis-52058.html#:~:text=MEANING%3A,Yahweh%2C%20God%20is%20gracious%22.Says the name is of Hebrew origin.
