I came across this name recently. I've been googling it, but I couldn't find any conclusive information about its meaning and origin. I at first figured that it was a short form of Theodora, but there have been sources who mentioned that it was a Greek name meaning "watcher", or that it was of Hebrew origin.
Perhaps someone here can shed more light on the meaning and origin of Theora? Thank you very much for your input. :)

Theorein means "to watch" in Greek, but I don't know, whether it's a Greek name.
Hebrew? I doubt it. There is a verbal root Tav-Aleph-Resh, to bend, but this does not give a good name giving motive, I am afraid. There is also a noun te'ura (Tav-Ayin-Resh), affirmation, heavenly testimony. This would make some sense, but I don't think, it's a name.
