Fridolin
Does anyone know the meaning/origin of the name Fridolin as well as the German pronunciation? I imagine the name is Germanic in origin (from "frid" meaning "peace") and I know at least one (curiously enough) Irish saint had this name. Thanks!

Fridolin is a pet form of names like Friedrich, with the element "frithu," protection, peace, and the Romance endearing ending "-lenus".
The Irish descent of Fridolin of Säckingen seems to be disputed, to say the least.
According to "Das große Vornamen-Lexikon" (Duden-Verlag), the name is of Westfrankish origin.
