Puritans had wondrous naming habits - even whole phrases, like Praisegod, were given as names.

They also sometimes just opened their Bible to any random page and used the name on that page, on the assumption that God had led them there! So little girls might get named Jezebel, which you'd think any Christian parent would avoid ... as for Increase, it could be just the rather banal remark that the family had grown!
