Yes, indeed your name really comes from the Russian (Common Slavic VERA plus the diminutive suffix - oshka or ushka sometimes.
The word VERA, which means FAITH, TRUENESS is actually as old as human language
itself - since the same root with the meaning TRUE FAITHFUL can be found in Latin - VERITAS, Spanish, Italian - VERO, French - VRAI,
