Cormac = son of raven?
I can't remember now where I saw this, but it seems logical to me. Does anyone know?

It doesn't really make sense. Presumably the person was equating cor or corb with the word for raven found in Corbin or the Scottish word corbie. I take it that's ultimately from the Latin. The problem is that Cormac is a Gaelic name and the mac element is Gaelic. The Irish Gaelic word for raven is fiach, as in the name Fiachra.

It is possible though that names can have elements of a different origin, like Floribert.

I found this raven-connection only in a book of Bruce Lansky, and as there are tons of mistakes in that book, I would not trust any of the meanings given by him.
Authors who really seem to do some research use to give the same meaning as BtN: Cormac
