the name Argyle i got from the movie Braveheart. I like the name and was wondering if it is actually a name and if so where it comes from and what it means?

This is a Scottish name meaning: "From the land of the Gaels, an Irishman."

Yes, this name does exist. It is Scottish. There is a county in Scotland called Argyll-shire but streets and the like are spelled Argyle. Sorry but I do not know what it means but if I find out I will let you know.
