Yes, it's real, a form of Savitri, meaning 'belonging to Savitr' (the sun god) in Sanskrit. Savitri is the name of the main prayer in Hindu rites and is portrayed as the wife or daughter of the sun or of Brahma. In legend, Savitri is a faithful wife who rescues her husband from the Hindu god of the underworld. There is also a river in western India called Savitri, the form Sivitri is found in older texts as its name.
