Taya?
I assumed Taya could be a form of Tanya/Tonya. Also, another theory I had possibly an alternative spelling for Tea? Any ideas of which name Taya could have formed from?
Thanks!___________________________________________________________glitter-graphics.com

In Russian Taya (pronounced TAH-ya) is a shortened version of Taisa or Taisiya.

Could be a variant of Tea / Tia, as you said. Also could be a shortened version of a name such as Amataya?

It's not uncommon in Australia, and I've always assumed that it was a phonetic spelling of Tea over here, since an "e" making an "ay" sound is very much unfamiliar to most Australians. But that's just a hypothesis.
