anyone heard of Lenneke?
I heard once that Lenneke (Lennika?) is a Dutch name, but I've never been able to find it in a book or website. I'd love to use it as a name for my soon-to-be-born daughter as an alternative to Annika (already been used in the family, no duplicates allowed) but only if I can verify its validity as a name. Any info on meaning or derivation is also welcome. Thanks!

Hi!In the Netherlands Lenneke is a pet form for Lene / Lena which are short forms for Helene / Helena and Magdalena.
I haven't heard of Lennika though... To me it sounds rather Russian or Polish than Dutch.Regards, Satu

Annika is Little Anne - OK? Just as a lambkin is a little lamb. So, Lenneke is Little Helen - or, I suppose, Little Magdalen.Nice choice, either way!
