Hello everyone.

I am trying to find out the meaning behind my name which is "Zibiah". I know it is Jewish in origin, because the name was given to me after my great grandmother also called Zibiah and her mother also had the name. I know the name is found in the book of "Kings" but am interested to know what the name means.

It's the feminine of Tsbiy from the word 'tsabah' which has the meanings 'prominence; splendor; gazelle, roe; goodly, pleasant'

tsabahty means beautiful, tsabahry means glorious

Most often the name is given with the gazelle and the beauty of the animal in mind, particularly in the modern era, though nature names have always been prominent in Hebrew.
