Nissen could be from the surname Nissen. According to Hanks & Hodges' A Dictionary of Surnames,, that has two different derivations:

1. From the Yiddish male name Nisn, itself derived from Nisan, the name of a month in the Hebrew calendar.

2. From a German and Danish partonymic from Nicholas; a surname found mostly in Schleswig.

P.S. Teila cannot be from the Hawaiian language, because there is no "T" in Hawaiian. :)
