I was named Glodean after my own mother. No connection to Barry White's wife, though, since my mother would have been much older than she, but in doing my own search on the name, I discovered that Barry White's wife, Glodean was a popular singer in the Cotton Club and as such, there have been numerous black women named for her. Runner, Wilma Rudolph's middle name is Glodean and there are others. You can find them if you do a google search on the name "Glodean." (that's how I discovered this posting.)
The history of my own name has different origins. My grandmother named my mother after a friend that she had in Illinois, but I haven't been able to discover the identity of the friend.
That's all I know.
