Adding to what Cleveland already has said I too believe that it is an alteration of the name Jamila, which is further derived from the Arabic word for beautiful (jamil (m) and jamila (f))

This is most likely a Latin American alteration of Jamila, creating a new form by using the suffix -et, abstracted from English or French names like Janet, Jeannette, Annette, etc.
