The meaning of Dioscorus.
I was wondering what the meaning is of Dioscorus, a latinized Greek name (the original form must have been Dioskoros). The first part of the name is most certainly derived from Greek dios meaning "of Zeus, God" - but I'm not quite sure what the second part might mean. It might be related to Greek koros "boy", but "God's boy" would be a bit of an odd meaning for this name, I think.I searched the archive of this message board, by the way, but this unfortunately yielded no results. Could anyone please help me out here? Thank you very much in advance for your time. :)

Roberto Faure (Diccionario de nombres propios) interprets the name as "son of Zeus" (from dios and koros, because this element can mean "boy, lad" or "son").
