I've heard of pear beer, but never actually encountered one. PriapLovs' Belgie buddies are specialists in all kinds of fruit-based beers, some ovem more like a wine or brandy, but interesting.
Tell Derek if he ever runs across Fraoch Heather Ale, to give it a try. Made from heather flowers in Scotland, from a recipe supposedly 1,500 years old. It probably won't become his regular brew, but it's fun to try really different beers.
