I have heard of this name because it is my name. I've had it for 33 years. There was also a pop group in the eighties named Shalamar. tp://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00000JMXA?v=glance
They had a song on the charts called "Dancing in the sheets". There is some type of botanical garden in India with a similar name.
