About all that can bea said of any of the meanings given in this thread is that they all appear to be wrong. Zunilda does appear to be of Germanic origin, but the meaning is probably indeterminate. The suffix would be Hild "battle, lethal combat", but the first element is obscure, it could be from Tun- "enclosure, court" (not an unusual theme), or Dom- "law, right, authority, condition" (normally -tum in High German, but affixed forms are known in the form Zun-). The changes from T and D to Z and from m to n are regular occurrences, especially in Germanic names passing through a Romance filter.

Hola Zunilda, According to my sources, Zunilda means "the brave protector". It is of
German origin and a variant of Siglinda.
However, being Latin in origin, another possibility that I like better is that Zunilda might come from the word "Zunil" , in the Maya - Quiché language: TZU = "tecomate" (jar of clay) . and N´IL = Sound of music. This is an instrument that the Mayas still play. Translated to English, Zunil means "clay whistle". So *maybe* Zunilda means "From de sound of a clay whistle/flute" .....??? So, I might be stretching it a bit, but who knows??... maybe I am right after all :opHope this helps y buena suerte,
Magia.
