The problem with translating Shaddai as almighty is that Shaddai is a plural. It seems that the original meaning was many-breasted. 'The Hebrew word shaddai comes from the root word 'breast'. References to women and female anatomy in the Bible are often obscured by later 'reinterpretation'. Perhaps this is another example.
