Re: Metro
There exists the name Metrophan / Mitrophan / Metrophanes. The Polish form is Metrofan. It comes from the Greek Μητροφανης from the elements μητηρ (meter) meaning mother and φανης (phanes) meaning revelation. I'm not that clear on the literal meaning of the second element. I'm not sure how often it was used as a name in Poland but it is listed in the name day calendar. This is information about an Orthodox saint by this name:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metrophanes_of_Byzantium
