Re: What is the origin of this name?
Erendira (in Spanish Eréndira) was the name of a princess of the Tarascan or Purepechan people of ancient Mexico. According to José Albaigés's Diccionario de Nombres de Personas, it meant "one who smiles" in the Tarascan language. Erendyra would be a modern respelling of Erendira. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tarascan
