Names residing in the unlisted archive
Hello, I am looking for information (i.e. meaning, origin, etc.) about the names Mierette, Minjonet and Rosalee. The first two I know I have heard or seen elsewhere, although the second I'm not so sure of. Because I depend on this site as my sole, reliable source, I am saddened to see them unlisted. I would appreciate any insight into these names greatly.

Not an expert, so I'm just guessing here:To me Rosalee looks like an American alternative spelling of the French name Rosalie (in the database).Mierette seems to be either of French origin, too or just influenced by French naming style using the suffix -ette in feminine names. Wikipedia lists it as the name of a minor character in Kushiel's Legacy by Jacqueline Carey. This seems to be a series of fantasy novels featuring a fictional version of medieval Europe which suggests the name Mierette to be either medieval French or used to be immitating medieval French names. Just from the looks of it, it might be related to Mariette or Merritt.Minjonet: http://www.babynames.com/name/MINJONET says it's French and a combination of Min and Jonet but they do not have Min OR Jonet in their database. However http://kamalkapoor.com/name-meanings/search-result.asp lists this name with the meaning "petite blue flower".

There is no record of Mierette being used in France according to the French statistical database that goes back to the year 1900. It could be an alternative spelling of Mirette, which is also very rare in France. http://www.meilleursprenoms.com/stats/histogram.php3?recherche=Mirette

Minjonet could easily be a phonetic spelling of Mignonette, just as Rosalee could be of Rosalie. I can't imagine that there would be any other explanation for those two.But Mierette's got me stumped. So close to Pierette, but surely not close enough?
