...Amelita? My great-grandmother wanted to name her daughter this if she had another one after my aunt June Nadine. The full name would've been Amelita Juliette. Could it come from Amelia? Her mother was Amelia and her husband's mother was Julia Maria.

In Spanish and Portuguese it's a short form of Amelia.

There's also Melita, but I don' think the names are related.

Amelita looks like a Spanish diminuative of Amelia.
