I thought of Cristiano Ronaldo but I don't think him is the reason for the rising of Cristian/Christian in Italy. If yes, the rising form would be Cristiano (which is also the Italian form of the name) and not the foreign C(h)ristian.

I sent a message to a person living in Italy and who is interested in names asking about the question.
