Behind the Name: Message: "Niamh"

I am positively in love with the Irish name Niamh. However, as a person who only speaks English, I don't understand why "NEEV" would be spelled Niamh; that looks like it would be said "nee-AHM", or something like that. Could somebody help me out here with Irish pronunciation???
