Ayna
Has anyone heard of this as a girls name (note the spelling, it's not Anya)? I came across it on a baby name website saying it is Australian but I haven't seen it anywhere else so I'm wondering if this is really its origin. Is it popular there? Does it have other origins?

That's good to know. I thought it may have arabic origins but I think not--in doing some research I haven't come across it as an arabic first name. It is a last name in Turkey, however.

Aina is a fairly common name in Sweden. It is said to be a variant of Aino. Perhaps Ayna could be a variant of this name?

That's what I thought tooIt looks like a variant of Aina. A lot of variants are formed by replacing "ai" with "ay" or vice versa.

Thanks! I came across that name too but I didn't know if Ayna has different origins.
