Inez was a popular name for American girls early in the 20th century, but I know people back then didn't use the Spanish pronunciation and instead were pronouncing it eye-nez. Can anyone tell me which syllable the accent fell on? Was it EYE-nez or eye-NEZ?

In Spanish it's spelt Inés and pronounced [ee-NEHZ]
