HAS ANYONE HEARD OF THIS NAME??
My great grandmother was born in Limerick, Ireland in 1830s. Her name was either Brittillia or Pretillia (have documents with both spellings). Does anyone know where it originates?

Looks to me like it could be a mid-point between Bridget and Bedelia (which is a form of Bridget also used in Ireland). There is also a form Bridelia.

Never heard of. Looks like a new creation indeed. Elements used could be:
BRIT (like in Britney or else like in Britt = Bridget)
PRET(ty)
-ILIA (spelt with one L, it may be taken from names like ODILIA, CECILIA, EMILIA etc.)
No other idea. Sorry :—(Andy ;—)

No, sorry. Possibly you should try to search other Irish names and see if that one looks anything like one of them. It may also have been a name of her parents' creation.
