Kai is also a Scandinavian and Finnish name
Kai or Kaj, maybe from the Roman Caius. But the meaning "food" is not relevant, as nobody speaks maori here. Besides, many people only care about the sound of the name, not the meaning."You sought a flower and found a fruit. You sought a spring and found a sea. You sought a woman and found a soul. You are disappointed."
"It does not become me to make myself smaller than I am." (Edith Södergran 1891-1923)

Yeah maori is only spoken in NZ and I'm guessing no-one (well nearly no-one) speaks it as their first language. Yeah I don't care about the meanings of names but it's just when I hear Kai I automatically think of food lol.
and I wonder
when I sing along with you
if everything could ever feel this real forever
if anything could ever be this good again
