Does anyone know anybody by this name? Is it used as a given name in the States?
King Herod (the Great) had in fact two wives called Mariamne, but neither of them is mentioned in the bible.
Josephus writes about Herod and Mariamne and he seems to be the only one who has the name this way. The usual Greek spelling of the name is MARIAMMA and many scholars assume that this name was misspelt in later manuscripts of Josepus' works. Of course the name is the same as MIRIAM or MARY. For the Old Testament character the Greek translation of the bible has MARIAM, in the Latin bible you will find MARIA.
Trying to imitate the Greek pronunciation of the time (as far as we know), we should pronounce the name Mah-ree-am-neh (or in America maybe -nee).
But you would have to see whether there are any real Mariamnes around and listen to their pronuciation.
