RE My ancestor's name Mixenda Dix Nott, also listed as Mixanda I am sort of grasping at straws but I do know enough Spanish to know that "mi" means mine. If a mother had a daughter named Xandra (nickname for Alexandra) and she told a census taker, in Spanish she is my Xandra it would come out "Mi Xandra" which the census taker could think was "Mixandra" or even "Mixanda."
