I am currently writing a story that takes place in the south during The Civil War and i was hoping that someone here at the boards will know what names were popular and traditional to the south during that time.

Just search the net for family bibles and census records ant the like, they often have anmes from that era.

My friend is a Civil War reenactor and they must have historically accurate names. They're encouraged to search for old family records, newspapers or legal documents (all available online) to find authentic names. You may also want to try a reenacting website as they can probably point you in the direction or even give you examples of names.
