It is properly spelt Cayman, but many places spell it Caymen. Cayman may refer to a group of three islands exist in the Caribbean, which are Grand Cayman, Cayman Brac and Little Cayman. Cayman is also an alternate spelling for caimen, which is “any of several tropical American crocodilians of the genus Caiman and allied genera: some are endangered” (www.FactMonster.com). There is also the caimen lizard, “a crocodilelike lizard, Dracaena guianensis, of South America, having powerful jaws for crushing the snails and mussels upon which it feeds”.I couldn't find where the word Caymen or caimen came from, sorry.~SD
