The name Ferrante is used nowadays in Italy and was derived from ancient French/Spanish names such as Ferrant/Ferrand/Ferrando/Ferran all derived from "Ferdinand" (in Italian it would be Ferdinando). It's origin is also often traditionally related to "ferro", Italian for iron.Giraldona looks like the augmentative of the name Giralda (so, literally "big Giralda). Giralda is a variant of the name Gerardo, Gerard.
