My friend was reading Arabian Nights or something and she came across the name Shaharazad (I'm guessing on the spelling, but it sounds like Sha-haira-zod). Does anyone know what it means? She was thinking of naming her future daughter this, but we did n't know if there were any alternative forms of this name or what you could call her as a nick-name, as Sharharzad is a mouthful to say! Can anyone help?

Thanks Nanaea! I don't think my friend should use the name for her future daughter, though. Can you imagine how much trouble filling out those standardized forms where you bubble in the letters of your name would be?! sheherezade is a loooonnnng name!
