Re: names
Did your family possibly come from the Isla de Salvora, off the coast of northern Spain? Sorry I couldn't find a meaning for that name. Perhaps the word is from the local dialect -- a language called "Gallego" in that region of Spain, with similarities to Portuguese. The closest-sounding word to "salvora" in Portuguese appears to be "savior" (meaning "savior"). In Spanish the same word is "salvador".Try contacting the Galician Department of Tourism at this e-mail address:info@galinor.esand ask them about the Isla de Salvora. If anyone should know the meaning of that word, I'm sure they would.Good luck, Amelia! :)-- Nanaea
