What is the meaning of Malala, as in the Pakistani girl Malala Yousafzai?

I was surprised not to see it listed here, not even when searching the message board comments.

I googled it and it seems to mean "sadness" or "grief-stricken". Ick. I had hoped for "strong girl" or "heroine"...

Awwww, agreed, not a good meaning at all!

I had seen that but never on a real naming site, so didn't know if the meaning was legitimate.
