ATTN: Andy
Sorry for having taken such a long time to answer!I'm living in France, near Paris and EuroDisneyland. I'm glad you think my English is good, and you're right that isn't from high school. After graduating high school ("baccalaureat") I started learning English a university. I've just graduated 2 years ("DEUG") and I'll be begin the 3rd year ("licence", BA ) in October.I've never head of The Well. But maybe my parents have.
I thought I had some great French name books until I started realizing that many meanings were cr*p, for example "little and womanly" for Charlotte...

Hi, Claire!I know I've asked this before: Do you know a second hand book store in France (possibly on the web) where I could get hold of the "Larousse Dictionaire des Prénoms"? Money doesn't matter in this case. I've seen copies from single pages of that book and the information given there seemed to be very reliable and complete. What books do you use for English names? Spanish? Italian? - I'm so curious …If you mail me your postal address, I could send you a copy of "The Well" (if you are interested). I've got a few more CDs of Chava and a number of LPs from the 60s, 70s, and 80s, but I haven't listened to them for quite a while.Andy ;—)

Hullo!Unfortunately I don't know anything about second hand book stores... My mom still buys me my university books (and she thinks second hand books are often "not clean" lol).
But... is this what you're looking for? http://www.fnac.com/Shelf/article.asp?PRID=1114774&Origin=LEXILOGOS&OriginClick=yeshttp://www.google.fr/search?hl=fr&ie=UTF-8&q=%22Larousse+Dictionnaire+des+Pr%C3%A9noms%22&btnG=Rechercher&meta=In fact I use the internet for most names... The two or three books I own aren't really good.I'll search in my parents' CD collection, and if they haven't got The Well I'll definitely mail you my address! Thank you!

Thanx so much, Claire! This is exactly the book I wanted. Unfortunately I don't have a credit card, so I can't order the book in France, also postage is quite pricy. I'll have to try some other way.I like the Internet, but I love books. You might see me in the middle of ten or more books on my desk, on the floor, on the shelf, digging up information. And the I try to tie it all together which takes a lot of concentration. But I love it.By the way, how good is your German? I would like to send you an article or two I've written for the newspaper. I've been doingthis for a year and a half now Saturday by Saturday and I enjoy it very much. I'm afraid "Claire" is not on the schedule yet.Andy ;—)

My German should be great since it's my first foreign language... But in fact I would say it's "average". I still had German lessons in 2002/2003 and my average grade was A / A+ but I think it came from the fact that the other pupils were cr*p because they hated German, not from my being specially good lol
I would love to read your articles though. You know, I always wrote stuff for the middle school / high school / university newspapers, but it wasn't very interesting. Mostly books, movies or fashion reviews. I even thought about becoming a journalist but I would like a better paid job lol

Hi, Claire!
If your German is just half as good as your English you shouldn't have any problems reading the articles.
But you should give me your mail address, as not everybody on this board wants to share them (3,000 characters/article). I've added mine to this message so I hope this works. If not so let me know. I'll be gone for a couple of days, so take your time. These are the names I've worked on starting with the letter A:AGNES (INES): Hexe oder Heilige?
ALEXANDRA: Was hat sie bloß gegen Männer?
ALBERT: Theologen, Nobelpreisträger und Liedersammler
ALFRED: Elfenrat – oder edler Friede? ALOIS: Nicht allwissend, aber berühmt AMANDA: Liebens-würdig? Geliebt!
