Clare has a name day
Hi. We are in the US and named our daughter Clare in 1994, after Clare of Assisi. (Clare (female) founded the Order of the Poor Clares in Assisi, Itally in the 1200's. She was mentored by the more famous religious man of peace, St. Francis, (male) of Assisi who founded the Franciscans.I understand that St. Clare's feast day is August 11 in the 1200's. (the day she died). We got that date from the Poor Clares ( a Catholic order of nuns who celebrate that day as their founders feast day.)Is is correct to assume that Clare's feast day, August 11, is also her Name Day? Thanks

Yes, August 11 and August 12 seem to be the most common name days for (variants of) Clare. According to this site's name day pages, it's August 11 in France, Germany and Lithuania, and August 12 in Hungary, Czech Republic, Latvia, Poland, Slovakia, Sweden, Estonia and Finland.http://www.behindthename.com/namedays/search.php?terms=claire
