Ferun (user submitted name)
I stumbled over the name Ferun (for a girl) and found it here some user submitted information. Unfortunately, about any bit of information given is just wrong.Usage claims "Ancient germanic", but there is no evidence that an ancient germanic name Ferun ever existed. Förstemann (Altdeutsches Namensbuch) neither lists Ferun nor any other name containing a name element like FEH-Old germanic *fehu is indeed a reconstructed form but the meanings given are all wrong. It is a cognate to latin pecu and modern german Vieh, meaning cattle, livestock. There is no evidence that fehu occurred in germanic names.Seibicke (Historisches Deutsches Namensbuch) cites one Ferun in Heidelberg 1974 and gives "Meaning and origin of the name is unknown". familysearch finds 12 Ferun's, half of them male, from 19th and 20th century.

Ferun is a Nordic name. I found it in a list of celtic girls names. It means The delightful, charming. The who magically makes happiness appear.

I really doubt that. I think, it is an 19th century coinage of Fee "fairy, fay" and Run "rune".

Hi elbowin, I've given you access to edit the submitted names, so you can add the information to that name if you'd like. :)
