Phyllis will probably find a cool Gaelic name for you, as that's her speciality. But if you want an anagram of your name for a cool craft name, and you're willing to give me your full name (first, middle, and last), then I'll see how it inspires me tonight.Or, if you prefer, you can just give me your first and middle names, and I'll work from those.Anagrams are pretty powerful, you know. They make cool craft names, because an anagram name is an arcane puzzle in itself. :)-- Nanaea

"Danielle Nola Whitehead" is an anagram of the Craft Name:"Alethia Dandelion Wheel".1. "Alethia" means "Truth".2. In the Language of Flowers, the dandelion signifies: "rustic oracle".3. "Wheel" is for the Wiccan "Wheel of the Year", which turns with the seasons and Sabbats.-- Nanaea

You're welcome! :) The dandelion is definitely your totem herb. I did your name again, and this time it came out:"Aleleah White Dandelion"I noticed that you're a Leo (August 1st), as well. Leo the Lion -- did you know that the word "dandelion" means "lion's tooth"?All the signs are strongly indicating that the dandedelion is your totem. You should fashion a garland of dandelions to wear on your head in Wiccan rituals.-- Nanaea

DanielleI, too am a Wiccan, and what I've done is translate the meaning of my given name into another language (my name means Foliage Spirit, so it's pretty powerful without the use of anagraming). If you would like, I could try something like that for you.Would you be offended if I asked you about your tradition? I've been learning about a number of them in my Wicca & Neopagan class (some I hadn't even thought existed, much less encountered).Phyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaea Euphoria) (Neither are my Craft name)

Hey, phyllis, have you heard of the church and school of wicca in new bern, nc? I have. I would like to visit there sometime. ithink the founders are Gavin and Yvonne Frost. Have you heard of them?

DanielleGODDESS YES. I've had to read things written by them and about them for my Wicca & Neopaganism class. If you can accessthe UWM library's electronic reserve (http://library.uwm.edu, click on Course Reserve) then instructor (Pizza, Murph), then Search, follow the blinking cursor).
We've just finished discussing Neopagan ethics and are now starting on Magick.Phyllis (Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)

I was born into a sort-of christian family, not very strong believers, so I mainly teach myself. I am a Celtic, and just realized that i needed a craft name. I was thinking along the lines of like an old-version of my name, angram, or a name that means something special, like yours. in my old house, i had a whole circle. It consisted of four people. I think that one of my "friends" was more interested in the magik and spells than anyone else, so i became a loner. One of my friends in a nearby town is a wiccan being taught by her sister. I am still formaly a witch-in-training, but am hoping to be initiated by her sis. What is it you wanted to know about my tradition?

im interested in learning.... i am a dragon yet i dont know my dragons name. any help???

DanielleI was curious because of two things.1. The tradition you are in steers me towards the language that I would try translating (or not translating) into. My tradition is a blend of a few (including jewitch and Slavic), but not all traditions would allow for something like what I was thinking of.
2. I'm a college student taking a course in Wicca & Neopaganism, so I'm learning more about other traditions (including Gardnerian, Alexandrian, and faery traditions).I haven't been fully initiated, but I've got a pretty good Wiccan network that I can access (including the Wicca & Neopaganism instructor and TA, who are both witches). I don't know what their traditions are, but we discuss almost everything about what I feel I need to know on my journey.Blessed bePhyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)

I am still teaching myself remember. What were you thinking of? I am sort of a blend of christian and wiccan, the only reason is that my family celebrates christian holidays, even though i've never really realized that. I only go along with them because they are my family. I got a message from nanea, and a suggestion for my name was Alethia Dandilion Wheel. What do you think? Alethia translates into truth Dandilion in the laungage of the flowers is rustic oracle and wheel as in wheel of the year. you'll have to forgive my misspellings and improper typing well i gotta go byeblessed be

DanielleI thought I'd try two possibles on you, neither are translations of your first name, though. :(1. Sidhe Fioinnuisce (translation: Spirit of Fresh Water)
2. Gualainn Ban [a-fada ("accent mark" on the a in Ban, which changes the "a" to a sound like in "far")] (translation: White Shoulder)I got the first idea from kinda combining Dani and Nola and tinkering with it a bit. Dani and Nola "while dropping a couple of letters" combines to make Naiad, a Greek water nymph. The second is a translation of your middle name.
If you like either one, please let me know which one. :)Blessed be

Say, Gaia, what would my Celtick name be?
vote up1vote down
PavlosLovsIt all depends on whether you consider your name to mean "small" (which woul make your Gaelic name Beag) or "humble" (which there are two or four words that your Gaelic name could be).If you would be so kind as to tell me which of the English translations you consider your name to mean, then give me about two, maybe three weeks, I'll get your Gaelic name to you. Okay? :)Phyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)

Yikes! I think neither :humble" nor "small" accurately describe me :P Maybe you could work on my other name, Spiro, which means "seed" or "to plant". Thanks in advance, Sidhe !

PavlosYour name, Spiro, would be either:1. Cuir: (to plant; sow; bury; set; put; or send, pronounced kir [like in the champagne drink])
2. Siol (s, i-fada, o, l): (seed; offspring; or progeny, pronounced sheel)
3. Por (p, o-fada, r): (seed; breed; offspring; newly sprung seed, pronounced like pore)Any of these strike your fancy? At least, any more than the others from your first name? :DPhyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)

Thanks Gaia! Cuir is cool particularly given the champagne connection; however I fear that adopting it may provoke wordplay from Hid Diva. Siol is my favorite. I am also happy that anagramming the three results in "Spiro L Curio." Just have to figure out what L stands for once I replenish my psyguy batteries.

"Yikes! I think neither :humble" nor "small" accurately describe me"@@@@ Anyone who calls himself "Priapos" sure ain't fittin' THAT description above! LOL!"Maybe you could work on my other name, Spiro, which means 'seed'..."@@@@ As in Zoosperm! :)-- Nanaea

NanaeaI've narrowed the search down to two words (either caora or foisc [f, o-fada, i, s, c]), but which one it is, I have to ask my Gaelige professor. He's a difficult person to get between phone calls, classes and other things he does for the Irish community around here.
Is trua liom.Phyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)

Hmmm... I think that "caora" is more pleasing to the eye than "foisc", at least when it comes to names...As for your Gaelige professor's busy schedule, I pity him, too. :)-- Nanaea

NanaeaIn case you'd like to know, Caora is pronounced Keeruh. As for John Gleeson, he's sorta asked for it (he teaches Gaelic and Irish Studies classes, is a prominent member of the Irish community, sets up tours of Ireland, helps teach Irish during Mother's Day weekend and over the summer, etc. The last time he really took some time off was when he had his heart attack and sextuple bypass surgery. Some vacation, huh? :(Phyllis (aka Sidhe Uaine or Gaia Euphoria)
