Augusto
I have a question about the usage of the name Augusto. Where I live (Brazil) it's a perfectly acceptable name, and it seems to be in most Latin American countries. However, I'm wondering how Chileans feel about the name, because I know that most anglophones associate the name with Chilean dictator Augusto Pinochet. Is the name Augusto still used in Chile or has it become unusable because of Pinochet?

I'm afraid I know nothing about this in Chile, but I do not agree with the statement "most Anglophones associate the name with Augusto Pinochet." I think the huge majority of people in the United States would not remember who Pinochet was, and those that do would be much more likely to simply remember his surname than his first name. So in the United States I don't think there would be much prejudice against the name Augusto because of Pinochet at all.
