Pontomedousa is a Nereid in Greek Mythology. Does anybody know the meaning of her name?

The first element, ponto, means "sea" in Greek, while the second element is the same as Medusa, which means "to protect, to rule over".

So the meaning is most likely "to protect the sea" or "to rule over the sea".
