Yes, Shiki is a real girl's name, as are Shikie, Shikiko, Shikika, Shikino, Shikibu, Shikiho, Shikimi, and probably others.
The only famous person I know of with any of these names is the 10th-c. author of the Tale of Genji, Murasaki Shikibu--and this was her pen name, not her real given name.
Nevertheless, Shiki et al. are genuine Japanese names.

Yes it’s a cool name for girls. Our daughter’s name is Shiki and everyone likes her name.
