Re: What does Illyana mean
Well according to Illyana Rasputin's Marvel wikia pages the name means:
http://marvel.wikia.com/wiki/Illyana_Rasputina_(Earth-616)"Ilyana" is actually the Bulgarian and Serb feminine of the masculine name "Ilya". English equivalents of the name "Ilya" are "Elijah", "Elias" and "Elliot". In Russian language, the name "Ilyana" doesn't exist at all.I'm not 100% sure if the name isn't used in Russia but here's the Illyana submitted name:
http://www.behindthename.com/name/illyana/submittedThere's a thread about the meaning of this name here:
http://www.behindthename.com/bb/fact/32134So yeah, I'm pretty sure it's the feminine version of Ilya which means "My God Is Yahweh". Hope this helped.

Hi there.
This could be helpfull for the meaning of a very nice name for a girl.
Well, maybe in Serb is so close to God.
In Russia, and with the dbl L (Illyana is not the same as Ilyana) it appears to be a feminin form of Illya/Illyan and it means the protector.
It is quit consistent with your meaning. Though not as close to God...
The source beeing a Russian anthropologogist I asked for it, I'd say that's accurate.
